Encrypted Account Storage

Your personal details — name, address, registered mobile number — are stored using AES-256 encryption at rest. Access inside our systems is restricted to authorised personnel with a verified business need and logged audit trail.

Cookie Controls

We use session cookies to keep you logged in and analytics cookies to understand how pages are used. You can adjust cookie preferences from the banner at the bottom of any 8oz page or via your browser settings at any time.

Payment Data Minimisation

When a UPI or PhonePe deposit clears, we record the transaction reference ID and amount only. Your VPA, wallet PIN or linked bank account number is never written to our servers — the payment gateway handles and discards that data.

Retention Schedule

Active account data is retained for as long as your account remains open. If you close your account, we retain the minimum data required by Indian law — typically transaction records — for the statutory period, then delete the rest.

Your Right to Request Changes

You can ask us to correct inaccurate data, restrict processing during a dispute, or delete data that is no longer necessary. Submit your request via the in-account form or email; we will confirm receipt within 48 hours.

Third-Party Sharing Limits

We share data with fraud prevention and identity verification providers only when required to protect accounts or meet legal obligations. Each third party is contractually bound to our data standards and cannot use your data for their own marketing.

Below are the questions we receive most often about how 8oz handles personal data, your rights as an account holder in India, and how to act on those rights quickly and without friction.

We collect your name, date of birth, registered mobile number and email address at sign-up. When you deposit via UPI or Paytm we also receive a transaction reference ID, but no bank credentials or wallet PINs are ever stored on our servers.

Log in, go to Settings, then Privacy, and submit an Access Request. We will compile and send a structured data export to your registered email within five business days of verifying your identity, at no charge.

Yes. Submit a deletion request through the in-account Privacy form or by emailing our privacy team. We will delete all data not required by Indian law; transaction records needed for statutory compliance are retained for the legally mandated period only.

We do not sell or rent your data to any third party for marketing. Data is shared only with payment processors (UPI, Paytm, PhonePe), fraud-prevention services, and regulators where Indian law requires it, and each recipient is contractually restricted from secondary use.

We use essential session cookies (required for login) and optional analytics cookies. You can decline analytics cookies via the cookie banner on any page or through your browser settings; essential cookies cannot be disabled as they keep your session secure.

Once you close your account we delete profile and preference data promptly. Financial transaction records are retained for the period required under the Information Technology Act and relevant Indian financial regulations, after which they are permanently deleted.
